Camp Youth Day at Doubling Gap Center – September 13, 2015

Come spend the day at Camp YoliJwa on Sunday, September 13th from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. This is a great way to kick-off your fall ministry, introduce kids to camp, or reconnect your youth with kids they met at camp this summer.

On Camp Youth Day, various activities will be available to do, and we need adults who are willing to chaperone these activities. If you have kids who want to come to camp, please have adults who are willing to stay and be active participants!

We are excited to be adding camp service projects to the schedule this year. There will be an evening meal provided at 6:00 p.m. of hot dogs cooked on the fire. Our day will conclude with a time of worship at Breneman Chapel.

You can download the paper flyer or click here to register online.

If any church would like to donate food items or give funds towards costs, please contact Pastor Stefanie DiFrancesco at starfinpa@hotmail.com.

Generational Perspectives Workshop – 10/10/15 from 9:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. at Parkway Church of God, Frederick, MD

In Generational Perspectives, you will learn how affinity groups (generations) impact ministry. You will be challenged to consider what formative events lead to each generation’s characteristics. Then we will see how these characteristics apply to life within the church. Each generation has their own understanding of commitment to Christ which influences their motivation for ministry. When we expect individuals from another generation to follow Christ the same way we do, conflict typically arises. When people do not feel understood or appreciated, they withdraw their support. Through this seminar we will seek to bless and honor those who are different than us, so our churches can effectively minister to all peoples.

Dave Williams, Director of Congregational Care, will be the presenter. Dave has served in this role since 2008. Prior to that he was the pastor of the Bare Memorial Church of God in Roaring Spring, PA where he began ministry in 1988. While pastor there, the church provided effective ministry to each generation and continues to do so.

The fee is $15.00 (Lunch Provided). To register, please call Dave Williams (717) 805-6027 or email dave@erccog.org. A late fee of $10.00 will be added to registrants after October 5, 2015.

Pastor’s Prayer Retreat October 26-27, 2015 at Doubling Gap Center, Newville, PA,

What are pastors made of? As a child, I heard the nursery rhyme that says, “sugar and spice and everything nice, that’s what little girls are made of.” And they say little boys are made of “snips and snails and puppy dog tails.” But what are pastors made of? If you Google that question, the answer is pork! Apparently, ‘al pastor’ is the term for pork tacos in Mexico or Turkish kebobs.

But seriously, what are pastors made of? Are we the result of years of study? Are we molded by some words of encouragement, a dash of criticism, and learning to keep the church body happy? Are we the sum total of the best sermon we’ve ever preached or the most converts we’ve ever spoken to? What makes a pastor? Click here to read more…
